Is by Meimi, that wonderful Goddess who brings joy and happiness to the hearts of Ingrids.
This time, Meimi brought joy by doing a layout of Isumi Shinichirou and Waya Yoshitaka, of Hikaru no Go. It is full of wub.

I hate it when I'm forced to be -reasonable-

"Then we'll recite scary tales around the campfire. You can tell me theo ne where the rescue hostages with a zamboni. That one terrifies me." - Max Mercury, Impulse.
So, the other night (and, well, afternoon, too), I was drowned in a deluge of Justice League and Justice League: Unlimited episodes. Because my friends apparently like the incoherent screams of rage I make whenever Wally West is on the screen.
I enjoyed it, too, for the most part. Batman has issues, and it's funny. Green Lantern and his exchanges with Hawkgirl were endearing, as was Hawkgirl's desire to SMASH EVERYTHING. (Oh, and I watched the Justice League finale and started laughing so hard at one point that I had an asthma attack that ended with me, in the bathroom, spitting up bits of red. That's crack, that is.) And Wally . . .
Wally . . .
Wally . . . wasn't the angry, issue-filled asshole I'm used to.
He was dumb.
And, I hasten to point out, Wally's thoughtless, goofy, -dumb- behaviour in the show was not Bart-like. It was annoying comic-relief character humour, whereas Bart . . . was endearing. Maybe it's because he's younger than Wally, so you expect Wally to know better, maybe it's because he was RAISED IN VIRTUAL REALITY IN ANOTHER CENTURY SO HE HAS AN EXCUSE, I don't know. Wally wasn't exactly endearing and I don't think I could have liked him even if he was given a bit of depth. Baggage, y'see.
But he wasn't an asshole. But I really could have guessed that. His conflict with Bart really brings out his bad side, and I knew that. Before I knew about the whole Teen Titans stupid, I'd read the couple of issues of The Flash (the couple that are in "Dead Heat") and I -didn't- hate Wally. Mark Waid writes him well. I mean, there's the line about -ninjas-. That's a great line. I laughed. It was a good line and it was Wally-narration. On his own, Wally can be, y'know, not a dick. But bring Bart and Wally's Barry-issues into things and, well . . .
. . . I think the conclusion is, if it weren't for the damn Teen Titans events, I'd probably have no real problem with Wally. I called him an ass sometimes, sure, but I -liked- his and Bart's bit in "Sins of Youth" and I liked the scene with him and Linda in "Dead Heat". But as things are, well . . . lynching.
