Pineapple makes everything better

"Little processed food! Nothing's expired! And I'm going to have to sit here and apply stains to the inside of this fridge manually! Who cleans the inside of their fridge? Really?" - Torg, Sluggy Freelance.

The rumour that I was dancing down 8th St this morning is untrue. As is the rumour that I was dancing down 8th St this morning with (18+) FAKE volume 7.

I did, however, purchase FAKE volume 7 today after my very first job interview.

Baby, can you feel the love?

And did I mention I know the assistant manager of the store I usually buy my manga and some of my used books from? And that when I was fifteen she told me to apply for her job at a used bookstore in our hometown? And for a brief period of time when I was sixteen I took over her job when she left? Yes, it is a small, small town, Saskatchewan.

I'll save my comments about FAKE until, well, the review, which I'll write . . . eventually.

Instead, I'm going to do something unusual. I'm going to talk about food.

Now, I once heard a comic talk about how, in his routine, he talked about sex, because if he were hungry, he'd talk about food.

Now, me, I talk about things I have. I'm not actually a big food person. I mean, I eat, and I enjoy eating, but I can't cook very well, and usually can't be bothered to spend the time cooking because hey, I could be getting my ass raped by that fuckshit fiend pimp and his grisly creations playing Final Fantasy X or doing something else that's almost, but not quite, productive.

Today I went shopping, however, being as the only meat in my freezer was . . . fish sticks.

So I bought some pork chops and some chicken . . . things, and I made a meal of one of the pork chops, frying it up with butter and pineapple juice and then adding some corn starch to it and effectively ending up with pineapple gravy, or sauce, or something. Thick pineappley goodness, anyway. There were actual bits of pineapple added later, and slices of apple, because both of these are things that belong with pork chops like I belong with my computer.

It was eaten over macaroni (the only kind of pasta I have) and 'lo, it was good.

I'm in a surprisingly good mood, so I think I'll go catch nasty beasties and maybe get Tidus hit by lightning for a bit, because that's the perfect way to end a day that didn't completely suck.

Waiting for the meteor,

Strange happenings in education land

"Hokey religions and taking a nap are no match for a knife in the head." - Black Mage, 8-bit Theater.

Still unemployed.

Still not at E3.

I did, however, meet with some course advisors this morning (after waiting for half an hour past my appointment time -_-) and was pointed in the direction of things that would help me complete my degree and help me with the LSAT (which I'll take -next- year).

I also somehow ended up being booted upstairs to talk to someone about the honours english program.

How the hell did that happen, I wonder.

The world works in mysterious ways, I guess. I sent an e-mail off to Mum about it. I'm sure I'll be getting a terse e-mail back in reply sometime today.

I should do some writing, but I'm feeling kind of tired . . . possibly I'll just game. I haven't had a good session in a while.

Yay dealing with FFX sidequests. -_-

Tired and uncaffeinated, but there's brownies!

Four hours of confused wandering
5/10/2004 04:34:13 PM
"Or maybe I'm onto something. I wonder what the hell it is?" - Miles Naismith Vorkosigan, Diplomatic Immunity, Lois McMaster Bujold.

Employment status - still nonexistant. I even put in applications today at places that were in the process of hiring, and I don't think anything'll come of it. I'll gnaw someone else's arm if I even manage to swing an interview.

I also have to decide whether I want to basically fuck over my slim chances to get a full-time job this summer and take five days employment helping in the office during the SFE.
On the bright side, the four hours of walking I did yielded one thing - the first volume of the Suikoden III manga.

Oh, Hugo, you're so cute. Oh, Chris, your issues are still mildly irritating. Oh, Geddoe, I look forward to you appearing in more than two or three panels.

Oh, Percival, you look more fruity than I could have ever imagined in the manga art.

Oh, Borus, you're still an asshat and I want to kick you out the window.

You, too, Lulu, you little twat.

And was Lilly hitting on Chris?

. . . Yes, that was my fascinating day.

I'm thinking of skipping Fucktard tonight and just going back to downloading it. It's not like it matters when I watch it, since I've been watching it at home since the hiatus ended, after Firefly.

Plus, I really want to try and catch A Wrinkle in Time, which I'm pretty sure is on ABC tonight, and I don't know if I'll get a chance to see it again. It doesn't seem likely that there'll be a torrent for -it- floating around. Shame, shame . . .

Lost in uncertainty,
