Is by Meimi, that wonderful Goddess who brings joy and happiness to the hearts of Ingrids.
This time, Meimi brought joy by doing a layout of Isumi Shinichirou and Waya Yoshitaka, of Hikaru no Go. It is full of wub.

Oh shit. Meimi, I'm so sorry. That's just awful. If I could, I'd fly down to the States and give the jackass who chose the rolls the biggest beating of his life. People are just idiots sometimes. Get lots of sleep and try not to mope, that only makes it worse. Lots of hugs.

University - boring.

English - boring and requiring me to buy a massive quantity of books for lots of money, and reread a book and a short story I've already read before. Also - five essays. If this wasn't a required course, I so wouldn't be there. I have a poor opinion of english classes, english teachers, and at this rate, I may acquire a poor opinion of the english language as well. I know no one in this class.

Physics - my teacher is a Trekkie. I find this vaguely bizzare and rather neat, althuogh I myself have never seen Star Trek. Sadly, a large potion of the small class (there's sixteen of us) are, um, unappreciative of people who enjoy less mainstream forms of entertainment. Physics is boring, but, on the other hand, if someone sings the Klingon Battle Anthem thing, they'll get an additional three percent on their mark. Fro's in this class with me, and may be willing to drive me about after classes. This is Nice. Also in the class is Scott, who not only remembers me from karate and elementary school (he came over and said hi), but he's working on his pre-vet too. Shock. Really. And kind of cool.

Biology - everything we covered, I already knew. And the textbook costs a hundred and something dollars. And I have to buy a -dissection- kit. And there's two teachers. And a lot of the same preppy (is that the word?) people from my other two Thursday classes. And Truck. Eyeroll, exasperated sigh. However, Samantha's there. She's from China and we had history together in grade twelve. She's nice and seems to genuinely like me.

I need text books and I miss Thea (haven't seen her in about a week now, although I'm sure she's just settling into her place again, but still).

On the bright side, I got a package from Aunt Laurie, of all people, today. She sent me a card. And a pineapple scented candle. Shaped like a pineapple.

My family's sense of humour is truly twisted sometimes. But it's nice to be thought of. Mmmm. Pineapple.

Orientation - it sucked. I got hit in the head by a piece of chocolate (I'm serious), some of the people I least liked from high school will be there, and lots of the ones who treated me like a human being . . . aren't.

Stephen's there. He stepped over me and didn't say hi. My mum points out I should have said hi but, you know . . . Me socially inept

Sarah's there, but Sarah actually makes me acutely uncomfortable a lot of the time, because I know she's homophobic and thinks homosexuals and bisexuals are going to hell, and you know . . . Me asexual but fully capable of appreciating the physical beauty of all peoples.

Fro's there. Which is nice, because we'll have physics together, which is the first class we've had together since grade ten or eleven history. It also means I can maybe bum rides. ^_^ Not much of a deal right now, but when it's winter and dark at five in the afternoon? Yeah. Rides then. Also, our physics labs are up at our old high school. That's sad, you know?

Since Fro's there, his girlfriend Shelly's there. I like Shelly. She's nice and funny, but I don't know if we'll have classes together. Still, nice.

Aaron's there, but, as I pointed out to mum, no matter how nice he may seem, I've barely spoken ten words to him at a time . . . Me, again, socially inept.

There's a guy who I went to school with from grade two until six. We were really close friends. He was one of those guys who'd invite me to his birthday party, and I'd be the only girl there. He was really sweet. Unfortunately, I haven't seen him in six years. ^^;

Now, to be truly insulting.

There's a girl who, if I ever have to mention her again, will be called Truck. Because, sad as it is to say, she looks like a truck, in my mother's words. Now, I'm not much for judging people by their physical apperances, but when you're fourteen and you appear to have no neck, multiple chins, and has a torso wider than her shoulders. She is also has treated me, when she's spoken to me, as someone vastly inferior to her, even though I was the one explaining stuff to her in physics twenty.

There is another girl, who dresses like a cheap hooker, who I know will be in my calculus classes, and tends to bathe in a vat of perfume before coming to classes. Have I mentioned how much I want to live in Scotland? I'm scent sensitive to a lot of stuff. Normal stuff, like aftershave and perfume, but also hair gel, shampoo, and, on one occaision, hand lotion. It makes me sneeze and gives me massive headaches. If you wear lots of shit, I probably have a deep, impersonal hatred for you.

Really, I just hope I have someone in my chemistry and biology classes so I can be pathetic and beg a ride from them. That's all I ask. And a competent lab partner for all science courses.

Tomorrow is, if you haven't heard, the first day of Ingrid's Experiences as a Faceless University Student. I have English 110.6 from nine until twelve, Physics 111.6 from one until four, and Biology 110.6 from seven until ten. Help me~

I'm very surprised, reading on slashdot, to see how many people are displeased with American Gods winning the Hugo. Especially the one fellow who said it read like something written by a sixth grader. I have to wonder if these people don't even bother to read the books they are critiquing and randomly throw around insults.

I recognize that there were some really great books nominated, and there's a couple on the list that I want to read. But honestly, I don't see the point in going about acting all damned pretentious about it. I liked American Gods. I found it really fun and involving, interesting, twisty, and beautifully grey. I don't read books because they're "intelectual." I read books because I find them interesting. I've always thought it's a fairly simple policy myself.

Was there a lot of bitching when That book won the Hugo last year? I hope so. Because it's far more justified than bitching about this. Get things straight, people.

And if you can read depth into those godawful Potter books, I don't think you're in any position to comment on Lois McMaster Bujold's lack of intelligence in her writing. So what if it's mostly space opera stuff? Some of it's still damn bright (see: Mirror Dance).

Harry Potter Merchandise Diverges into Sex Toys

That's going to get me some weird referrals, I just know it.

Aside from the obvious stupidity of the product, and the people who buy it . . .

It's a fscking broom! You have one in the closet! You may have more than one! You may have several models! You do not buy your child one for a ridiculous amount of money because if makes -noises- and vibrates!

God, humanity, you fill me with a white hot rage.

School - you suck.

I mean, thank you for sending me some kind of notification on what the hell is going on. Thank you for telling me that there's an orientation at the SIAST campus tomorrow.

But fsck you for telling me the day before. That is not cool.

I spit on your poorly organized caracses.

Dude, that's just plain mean. Poor Rekka. I'll save the rest of my observations for the review.

I don't suppose the sooner I review means the sooner we loyal fans get more, ne? Bah.

I at least expect love and worship and adoration then. Is that too much to ask?

Work tomorrow. Then pathetic harassing of people in the hopes of developing a clue. Maybe I should have gone to that orientation thing, but honestly, how much help is it for me to be shown around the campus of the university in another fscking city?

Le sigh.

9/2/2002 10:38:59 PM
Owwwwwwwww! Turn off the sharp stare! Off! Off! I'll do it soon, I promise, even if it was a very wicked chapter. You didn't even get poor Rekka out of that mirror! Although I suppose that's your author's fault, not yours. And your council dudes are sexy, even if they make me think of the Tribunal of Evil in the Liam Smith Show . . .

I have to do another Potter chapter, though. Bleck.

I do promise to deal with it before classes start though. Was very nice. Thankoo Meimi ~sparkle~

Cheers to Neil Gaiman. I'm glad that a deserving book actually won this year. I have no complaints.

9/2/2002 10:12:29 AM
I'm not sure which is worse. Not getting replies to your e-mail, or getting e-mail that wasn't actually written for you.

Don't ask.

Apparently, Keiichi killed the old cd burner. Hence the whole not-working thing. We've put in one of Dad's now, and Keiichi seems to get on with it quite well.

No, I'm not naming it.

I burned three cds without mishap. One of FLCL, one of X, and a cd for Fiora to add to the non-existant birthday package.

I spent a good portion of the day reading more Sandman. I stopped before going into the ninth volume. Too much Gaiman and my head will explode. I do want to finish it before classes start though.

My typing accuracy's gone to shit.
